What: Dia:Beacon Spring Benefit

Dia is pleased to enact Carl Andre’s performance The Golfing Party of Brancusi, Satie, & John Quinn, based on the artist’s sculpture of the same title from 1990 and included in the retrospective Carl Andre: Sculpture as Place, 1958 – 2010. Consisting of four threaded nickel-steel rods to be placed on the left and right knees and shoulders of a seated person. As the sculpture rests on the performer’s body, a pianist seated in proximity plays Satie’s piano score Vexations (1893), a meditative composition consisting of a short motif to be repeated 804 times. (I will be one of the three pianists playing Vexations, from 1:15PM to 3:30PM)
